Commercializing the inventions of U.C. Irvine and the Southern California hi-tech community

The Genesis of Tech Coast Works

On September 28, 2006 the National Academies held a nationwide convocation to discuss the book Rising Above the Gathering Storm. During the event each region of the country was challenged to identify one activity they could undertake to help prepare the United States to compete in the new global economy. Academic, civic and business leaders from Orange County determined that our greatest need was to provide an improved foundation for Orange County entrepreneurialism and established the Orange County Business Incubation Network.

OCBIN is now facilitating the creation of a series of incubators to serve a variety of subject matter areas. Tech Coast Works is the second of these new incubators and was established to commercialize the inventions of the faculty and researchers of U.C. Irvine's Donald Bren School of Information and Computer Sciences, and the Southern California hi-tech community.
